Principal's Message

Welcome to the Sterling Elementary website.  I am excited to begin my 21st year at Airport Community Schools.  The staff, students, parents, and community are dedicated to provide an engaging educational experience for those we serve.  I have witnessed the transformation of many educational shifts throughout the years and can say with confidence that Airport Schools makes decisions with the best interest of our students at heart.

My vision for Sterling is to continue to build an ideal school environment where students feel challenged and engaged in class. Students and staff will also celebrate the core values of being safe, responsible, and respectful citizens. Teachers will feel supported in their teaching and inspired to try new things. Teaching and assessments will be standards-based, instruction will be data-driven, and collaboration will be purposeful. We will strive for all parents to be involved in school activities and classrooms, while teachers and parents work collectively to support their students.

My goal is that together we can create an atmosphere where students are able to explore their passions, refine their interests, and grow in their academic abilities. Only together is this possible. I thank you for taking on this challenge with me to benefit and support your child and his/her experience at Sterling.

Education is a continual journey where ideas and concepts can take us to our inner most reflections and develop connections to our personal experiences.  I look forward to greeting each of your children as they enter our classrooms each day and leading them on this exploration of new learning opportunities.

Airport Community Schools 2018 Bond Update

The Airport Community has spoken! Thank you to the best school community around for supporting the Airport Schools bond proposal in a convincing matter. The final tally unofficially puts a vote of YES = 1202 No = 921 in favor of upgrades to all of our schools, the reopening of Niedermeier as an elementary school in the fall of 2019, and much needed infrastructure upgrades that will ensure security for present students and generations to come!
